NSCC Centre for the Built Environment

​The Centre for the Built Environment (CBE) is NSCC’s premier facility dedicated trades and technology. In addition to its minimal ecological footprint, the CBE provides a unique learning experience for students in 13 programs and is a huge step forward in sustainable design. Its curricula integrate an ecological theme that reflects the college’s enviornmental goals.

We provided complete mechanical services for this new building, which features a number of environmental innovations. These include solar thermal panels, planted rooftops, biowalls, a geothermal system, and natural ventilation. Solar wall cladding naturally preheats ventilation air supplied to the building.​

The college also includes an outdoor construction pavillion and light-filled classrooms. Large operabale doors create flexible work spaces, allowing trades to collaborate.
