Electrical Estimator

Toronto, Ontario

We currently have an opening in our Toronto office for an Electrical Estimator who will be responsible for generating electrical take-off documentation on projects and assisting in developing electrical designs, estimates and quotations.

We are looking for a detail oriented, self-starter who enjoys working in a fast paced environment and values exceptional customer service.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilizing Accubid on a consistent basis
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings and specifications
  • Providing input for determining bid strategies
  • Reviewing bid proposals
  • Finalizing bid packages
  • Presentation of bids to customers
  • Follow up inquiries with customers
  • Preparing timely and accurate full cost estimates for projects, including labour, materials, subcontracts
  • Preparing and maintaining a list of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
  • Preparation of change order quotations
  • Project briefing with project managers upon award
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and project bid files

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  •  2+ years’ experience estimating electrical projects is required.
  • Electrical installation and trades experience is required.
  • Additional electrical trades experience is an asset (Switchgear, transformers, site works, controls, etc.)
  • Ability and comfort working in a variety of different work settings (from tenant fit up and retrofits to large new construction).
  • Demonstrated ability to read blue prints and familiarity with all types of electrical equipment and systems.
  • Strong knowledge with the Ontario Electrical Safety code and electrical standards.
  • Ability to prepare budgets and finalize complete estimates.
  • Experience working with suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Good computer skills, experience using a computerized estimating system and ability to use hand held devices.
  • Experience with software Trimble Accubid Estimating required
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, professionalism, customer service orientation and strong attention to detail.
  • Must hold valid driver’s license, access to a car is required.
