St. Joseph’s Centre for Mental Health and Addiction, West 5th Campus

St. Joseph’s Centre for Mental Health and Addiction’s West 5^th Campus offers mental health and addiction services alongside medical outpatient and diagnostic services, and integratea research and academic partnerships with clinical care.

DMC Mechanical provided the complete ventilation and commissioning on this project. Working as an integrated part of the P3 team, we provided mechanical solutions to address unique aspects of this project, including:

• We built all ductwork and mechanical services in racks on the ground, then hoisted these modules for more rapid installation, and to minimize the need for workers on ladders in narrow hallways.
• There were no room attenuators (HVAC silencers) in the hallways, so we recommended a medical-grade acoustic flex to keep sound levels within the project’s requirements.
• All ventilation grillwork is anti-ligature, as per the building requirements of a mental health facility.

We successfully completed this 850,000 sq. ft. project on time and under budget. The building achieved LEED-NC Gold certification.
