Surrey Bio-Fuel Processing Facility
Location: British Columbia
Market Sector: Municipal
Delivery Method: P3
The Surrey Bio-Fuel Processing Facility will process residential and ICI waste in the city of Surrey, B.C. It also includes an integrated learning and research centre.
We were the mechanical contractor on this project, providing:
- Design-build services
- HVAC and plumbing installation for the office building
- Partial process piping and container boiler plant for the processing facility
Our work included:
- An 8’x20′ insulated shipping container
- Two Vitocrossal Viessmann Boilers
- Two pumps, and expansion tank and air separator
- Schedule-40 steel welded hot water piping
- Chemical treatment
- Thermal piping
- Commissioning
We coordinated design with European manufacturers of the bio-fuel processing components. Most of the piping is up to 12′ underground, and we managed space restrictions on the site.
This project was awarded a Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) Gold Award for Construction Excellence in 2017.
