The Salvation Army Headquarters office tower in Toronto (East York) features a chapel and cafeteria in addition to traditional office space. We were part of a building retrofit to update the building’s systems and efficiency.
Our work included the design and installation of a Distech Controls system to replace an existing building automation system. Our expert project management skills were critical as we carefully scheduled work during regular office hours in an occupied building. We worked closely with the building’s operations staff and management to schedule the workflow.
To keep the existing system functioning while the new system was installed, we carefully removed and replaced functional “chunks” of the BAS to minimize the impact on occupants. We also provided training to ensure smooth operation of the new system.
The new system features an improved user interface and provides the operations team with web-based remote access. The new sequences of operation will improve the energy performance of the building while also improving tenant comfort.
